Theoretical foundation of improving cleanness of steel and modifying inclusions by calcium treatment process were summarized, combined with the physical properties of calcium, evolution of calcium treating method in steel was reviewed, the advantage of wire-feeding process alone with the optimization routine of calcium cored-wire structure and core powder compositionwas emphasically analyzed ,and optimization of wire feeding process was summarized, the problems unsolved in calcium treatment together with the research fields to stabilize calcium yield and realize accurate calcium addition was put forward.

In order to achieve the BOF end-point direct-tapping without pouring slag, the key is to control the foaming slag degree for the BOF single slag process. In this paper, on the base of theoretical analysis of the influencing factors for the slag foaming degree, the effects of charging sequence and oxygen supply system on the slag foaming degree in 180 t BOF were studied by production trial, the conclusions are as follows: improving the adding methods of lime, dolomite and coolant, at the same time controlling the oxygen supply based on the TSC measuring information can reduce the final slag foaming degree greatly. After taking the above three measures, the average deslagging angle of the 180 t BOF is increased from 84 ° to 90.3 °, the BOF direct-tapping rate without pouring slag at the blowing end-point is increased from 10 % to 50 %, and the tapping tem perature loss is reduced by 6 ℃to10 ℃ compared with the conventional tapping process.

The fluid flow in argon blowing ladle is driven by buoyancy of bubble. In order to quantitatively describe the fluid flow phenomena, it is essential to understand the structure of argon-liquid zone. In the present paper a numerical model was built to research the velocity field, gas fraction distribution under different quasi-single phase flow models. The classical Castillejos model was used to study the mixing behavior during teeming process in ladle. With increase of gas blowing rate, the mixing time decreased. Under same argon blowing rate, as the free surface goes down the mixing time became shorter. Nevertheless, when surface level was lower than 200mm, the variation law reversed, that is because the circulation flow became weaker at lower surface level condition. The results obtained in this paper could provide theoretical support for understanding the fluid flow and mixing behavior in ladle.

Optimiazing the running existed problems for RH dry vacuum pump system according to working principles and charateristics of dry vacuum pump. The dry vacuum pump system technology and equipment applying in RH furnace process, which is benefit for improving the RH furnace metallurgical function. Air evacuation capability, decarbonization, dehydrogenation and liquid steel cyclical speed rate are improved. The content of [C] in molten steel is less than 10 ppm after vacuum treatment for 15 min, and the content of [H] in molten steel is less than 1ppm after 20 min. The stable operation of the dry vacuum pump system, energy saving and environmental protection greatly reduce the production cost of RH process.
