    one of the emphases for energy saving and emission reduction in an iron and steel enterprise is further saving energy in the converter steel-making plant. Optimization of the process flow is the first and foremost important focus point and compactness, high efficiency and automation are three main aspects that embody the process flow optimization. The pivot for the current research and popularization is to further raise the energy source conversion, reclamation and utilization efficiency of the steel-making plant. Temperature holding of the hot metal for the overall process, oveer heat running steadily in a relatively low level and establishment and optimization of an energy flow network as well as utilization of new pattern clean energy source are the orientation of develoment.

    The present paper introduces the good results achieved such as an increase in the service life of stirrers, improvement in the deslagging, reduction of the iron loss in deslagging and enhancement in the quality rate of the end-point sulphur control in refining the the low sulphur steel (w(S)≤0.008%)by application of bottom nitrogen blow process for the hot metal pot(ladle) in the process of desulphurizing the hot metal by KR method with CaO as desulphurizer.

    The present paper introduces the production practice of refining the steel using “BOFdouble-combining steel-making process” in the Steel-making plant of Laiwu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, discusses the technological characteristics of this process in the aspects of raw materials charging, slagging technology, blow pattern and use of manganese ore and analyzes in detail the whole process of smelting and enumerates the advantages and disadvantages of the double-combining steel-making process as well as the practical results in implementation of this process in the Plant.

    Since 2007 Chongqing Iron and Steel group has been exploring the formula of the carbonaceous heat-generating agent and its application in the Converter steelmaking so as to improve the converter’s thermal source and solve the problem of thermal deficiency when the hot metal ratio reduces from 78~80% to 73~75%.Through experiements and application in a 80t-converter very prominent results have been achieved in reduction of the end point oxygen and improvement in the quality of the liquid steel.
