The effects of electrical steels on carbon peak and carbon neutralization were expounded, especially on the achievements of obvious energy saving and carbon reduction to the downstream energy efficiency upgrading bringing from the production technology of electrical steels and their effects to reducing carbon emission and energy consumption. Meanwhile the production situation of electrical steels in 2021 was analyzed, and the future development of electrical steels was introduced, and some advices were put forward on how to reduce carbon emission and produce more electrical steel with lower iron loss and higher magnetic induction.

Grain boundaries and initial {100} columnar grains play a key role in the inheritance and evolution of texture in the production of electrical steels. In this paper, the crystal plasticity finite element method was used to simulate the grain orientation evolution of cube and rotatedcube oriented bicrystals when grain boundary was set to different orientations. It was shown that the grain boundary in three grain boundary orientations demonstrated the characteristics of inducing Sshape deformation inhomogeneous region and alleviating the orientation rotation of local deformation inhomogeneous region. Three kinds of cube and rotated cube oriented bicrystals separated by different located grain boundaries showed obvious orientation stability under rolling conditions with surface shearing effect. In the condition of GB⊥RD boundary position, the rotatedcube oriented grain preferentially rotated at the center of the grain boundary, while the cube oriented grain rotated strongly at its end away from the grain boundary. In the case of GB⊥TD boundary position, the grain boundary obstruction to orientation rotation was the smallest, the orientation scattering was the largest and the texture intensity was most reduced. In addition to the rotation around TD, cube and rotated cube oriented bicrystals also rotated around RD and ND complexly. At GB⊥ND boundary position, orientation rotation was similar to that at GB⊥RD, but a small part of bicrystal rotated around ND.

The S-N curve of a high strength non-oriented electrical steel was tested. The microstructure and fatigue fracture morphology and dislocation were analyzed by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope. The results showed that: at room temperature and the frequency of 20 Hz and the stress ratio R of 0.1, the fatigue strength of the experimental steel was 360 MPa when the cycle was 10

cycles. The fatigue crack initiation at the surface of the steel and the intergranular fracture phenomenon occurred. There were cleavage steps and fatigue stripes in the fatigue crack propagation region, and the instantaneous fracture region was ductile fracture with a large number of dimples. A large number of dislocations appeared in the matrix under cyclic stress, and there persistant slip band terminated at the grain boundary position.

The effects of yttrium(Y) on microstructure, elevatedtemperature tensile properties and fracture mechanism of 6.5 % Si non-oriented electrical steel were investigated by means of microstructure characterization, high-temperature tensile test and fracture analysis. The results showed that the doping of Y introduced composite Y rich precipitates (YS/YP) in the melt. YS and YP precipitates were qualified for heterogeneous nucleation agents, which thus raised the nucleation rate and refined the solidification microstructure. The hot rolling microstructures were inhomogeneous through the thickness. Three distinct layers characterized by equiaxed grains, a mixture of equiaxed and elongated grains and completely elongated grains were detected at the surface, subsurface and center layers, respectively. After annealing, the hot rolling microstructures were transformed into equiaxed structures. The annealing microstructure of the experimental steel doped with Y was significantly refined. After aging at 500 ℃, the experimental steel doped with Y showed a lower ordering degree and a ductile fracture morphology at 300 ℃. The tensile ductility approached as high as 20.2 %. On the contrast, the experimental steel undoped with Y fractured brittlely and the tensile ductility was only 2.1 %. The results verified that the doping of Y in 6.5 % Si non-oriented electrical steel could improve the intermediate temperature ductility by refining the microstructure and lowering the ordering degree.

In order to increase the power density of traction motor for new energy vehicles, major motor manufacturers have been constantly increasing the motor speed. The following problem that manufacturers have to solve is how to reduce the increasing iron loss when the motor speed is increased. The components and influencing factors of motors’ iron loss were discussed in this paper, and an 8pole 48slot permanent magnet synchronous motor using three different thickness materials was simulated. To compare its efficiency and iron loss distribution, the relationship of the thickness of silicon steel in drive motors, the iron loss and the cost were derived. And finally some recommendations for the selection of drive motor materials were put forward.

The effects of annealing temperature on microstructure and texture and magnetic properties of 3.1 % Si non-oriented silicon steel were investigated in this paper. The results showed that, when the annealing temperature increased from 940 ℃ to 1 000 ℃, the average grain size of metallographic structure increased from 98 μm to 145 μm, the iron loss value P1.5/50 decreased from 2.576 W/kg to 2.408 W/kg. And as the annealing temperature increased, the strength of the unfavorable texture component γ gradually decreased, the strength of the {111}〈112〉 texture component decreased by about 16 %, so that the magnetic induction B50 gradually increased,and the magnetic properties was improved.

The microstructure and texture evolution of oriented silicon steel produced by Ningbo Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. were analyzed by optical microscope and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the microstructure of the slab was inhomogenous along the thickness direction after hot rolling. After first cold rolling and decarburizing annealing, the microstructure changed from strip fibrous to equiaxed primary recrystallized grains, and the average grain size of the primary recrystallization microstructure was 18.17 μm, and the texture was mainly α texture and γ texture. After two-stage cold rolling , the crystal grains were compressed again and transformed into fibrous structure, and the texture was mainly γ texture.After high temperature annealing, secondary recrystallization occurred, and the grains grew abnormally to centimeter level , and the texture was the single and sharp Goss texture.

In viewing of the distribution and morphology characteristics of the hole defect of nonoriented electrical steel in Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the causes of the defect were analyzed by micro analysis of the defect sample and the production data. Combined with the production process of hot rolling, by avoiding the impact of strip steel on the guide and reducing the nodule formation on the guide, the pressing of foreign bodies in hot coiling could be effectively suppressed, thus reducing the formation of hole defect in cold rolling process.

In views of the normalizing annealing furnace roll marks problem occurred in the process of normalizing annealing of silicon steel in Baosteel, by combining big data from actual production with product quality problems, data mining and data analysis methods were applied to actual production to solve the pain points and provide decision support, a robust and practical data analysis method for the steel production process has been developed, which avoided the previous problems of omission and nonquantitative judgment through manual identification. Through the intelligent decision system platform to obtain the actual production and surface detector data, variable selection and feature engineering were carried out based on Pearson correlation coefficient algorithm and applied random forest algorithm to classify and forecast the data, which realized the traceability and monitoring of quality problems. Therefore the quality problem whether the defect of furnace roll marks can be eliminated by rolling would be predicted by quantitative data, and the recognition accuracy reached 96.43 %.

In order to explore the effect of annealing temperature on the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of a thin gauge 3.0 %Si non-oriented silicon steel, the effects of different annealing temperatures on electromagnetic properties, microstructure and texture of cold rolled 0.25 mm thick 3.0 %Si nonoriented silicon steel were simulated by means of a multi atmosphere continuous annealing furnace. The results showed that, the iron loss P1.5/50 and P1.5/400 gradually decreased as the annealing temperature increased from 850 ℃ to 975 ℃. When the annealing temperature exceeded 950 ℃, the iron loss P1.5/50 was about 1.47 W/kg, and when the annealing temperature exceeded 975 ℃, the iron loss P1.5/400 gradually increased. As the increase of annealing temperature, the increase of hard magnetize textures of {111}〈121〉, {111}〈110〉 etc. was faster than {001} texture, and the magnetic induction B50 was decreased. Considering the effect of annealing temperature on magnetic induction and iron loss, better electromagnetic properties can be obtained when the annealing temperature is 975 ℃, then the critical grain size is 125 μm. The optimum annealing temperature in industrial production is 950~975 ℃.

The influence of normalization process with a bell furnace on the structure, inclusions and properties of 50W350 electrical steel hotrolled sheet was studied. The research results showed that: when the steel was normalized at a certain temperature in the bell furnace, the silicon steel grains gradually recrystallized and grew up with the extension of the annealing holding time,and at the same time, the precipitates also gathered and grew up. The recrystallization and growth of the silicon steel grains were realized by formulating a reasonable normalization process in a bell furnace so as to meet the technical requirements of the product normalized in a continuous annealing furnace.

Based on iba platform, the oriented silicon steel rolling data on production process by sendzimir mill was collected and analyzed, which was then used to help the production in return, forming a virtuous cycle. The data collected from cold rolling made good effects on the application of strip breakage analysis and prediction, defect tracking, online and offline analysis of shape and thickness and prediction, which evidently improved the material output rate and production yield.

The magnetic performance index of silicon steel products is one of the most critical quality indexes. However, at present, 100 % determination of magnetic performance depends on the offline laboratory test results of samples, and the measurement results of the online detector configured in the production line cannot be applied in practice due to the accuracy problem.Based on the existing quality control system of silicon steel products, big data technology was used to analyze and model the production data in this paper, and different magnetic property index online detection models was constructed , and the integrated deployment of the model based on the existing information system was completed. Finally, the fulllength and multiindex magnetic properties of silicon steel products were realized, and functional applications such as sampling optimization, precise cutting and auxiliary comprehensive judgment were developed to further optimize the quality control system of silicon steel products.

The rolling strategy of electrical steel was optimized in a factory, and the rough rolling pass was changed from “1+5” to “1+3”. Subsequently, the following problems were occurred in the production process: when the steel grade changed, the roasting roller steel before the electrical steel appeared the narrow width phenomenon, and then the electrical steel appeared the ultrawide phenomenon. This paper introduced the principle of width setting model and width adaptive model, and expounded the causes and solutions of this problem. In the end, the problem was solved effectively, the product quality was greatly improved and the width blocking rate was also reduced.

It is a frequently observed quality problem for new producers that the low temperature heating and subsequent nitriding grain oriented silicon steel products show a full abnormally grown grain structure but with a low magnetic property and its reason and solution are crucial to reduce production costs. In this work the products with above-mentioned phenomenon in two groups of grain oriented silicon steels were analyzed by determining their corresponding grain orientations in primary recrystallized sheets, in the interrupted samples during secondary recrystallization annealing including matrix grains and secondary grains and detecting their secondary recrystallization temperatures. Results showed that the reason for the decrease in magnetic properties lay in the higher scattering of Goss orientation mainly towards to {110}<227> which was related with a smaller average grain size of primary recrystallized sheets leading to low starting secondary recrystallization temperature by about 50 ℃. The earliest secondary grains showed large orientation scattering to Goss orientation. The difference in magnetic properties of the two group sheets were not related to their starting secondary recrystallization temperature, but to their degree in orientation scattering, which were ascribed to the slight differences in primary recrystallization textures and inhibitors as well as the turbulence in key elements contents.

In view of the water print defects on the surface of common oriented silicon steel during the secondary pickling process, the defect types were determined by means of the analysis of the microcosmic characteristics of the defects and the elemental analysis of the energy spectrum in the defect area, and the causes were determined according to the analysis of the production correlative factors. The results showed that the roughness difference on the surface after secondary pickling was the direct cause of hydrographic defects. Production correlation analysis showed that the residual amount of iron oxide in the adsorbed area of corrosion inhibitor was related to the concentration of corrosion inhibitor in acid solution. The defect rate of the pickling water imprint was reduced from 18.73 % to 0 % by draining acid tank and circulating tank and reducing acid temperature at the initial stage of pickling plan.

The effect of annealing temperature after cold rolling on the microstructure, texture evolution and magnetic properties of 0.5 % Si non-oriented silicon steel was investigated under laboratory conditions. The results showed that the increase of the annealing temperature from 675 ℃ to 725 ℃ was conducive to the increase of the recrystallization rate , and the recrystallization was completed at 725 ℃. The average grain size was increased from 18.2 μm to 40.2 μm with the increase of annealing temperature from 725 ℃ to 850 ℃. Therefore, P1.5/50 was decreased from 10.4 W/kg to 4.5 W/kg with the increase of annealing temperature from 675 ℃ to 850 ℃. When the annealing temperature increased from 675 ℃ to 725 ℃, the magnetic induction increased gradually due to the increase of recrystallization rate. By contrast, with the increase of annealing temperature from 725 ℃ to 850 ℃, the volume fraction of {111} grains was increased from 35.8 % to 40.4 %, and the beneficial {001} and that of the Goss grains was decreased from 14.8 % to 12.8 %, thus reducing B50 from 1.76 T to 1.74 T. Therefore, It is necessary to select the appropriate annealing temperature to obtain the properties of lower iron loss and higher magnetic induction.

As an important iron based raw material in industrial production, pure iron has been widely used at home and abroad because of its excellent performance. Research institutions and production enterprises at home and abroad attach great importance to the development of pure iron purification. In this paper, the regulations of different types of pure iron in China were given, the main smelting methods of industrial pure iron in production and the research results of ultra-high purity iron preparation by researchers at home and abroad were introduced. The technological processes of large-scale production of industrial pure iron by domestic enterprises such as Tisco, Ansteel and Xingtai Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. were analyzed, and the industrial pure irons produced by Chinese enterprises and JFE company in Japan were compared and analyzed. The development trend of high purification of pure iron was pointed out. With the development of electroslag remelting technology and space electrophoresis purification technology, the high purification of pure iron has injected new vitality.

The relationship between strip shape and strip deviation was obtained by analyzing the force of rolled hard strip steel running on the roll surface of the annealing line and combining with the actual silicon steel sheet shape cold rolled on the six-high reversible rolling mill of Masteel. And then according to the actual situation of silicon steel production line in a steel mill and the correlation analysis between the sheet shape and the deviation, effective measures to reduce the deviation of the annealing line were formulated. These measures were playing a key role in deviation control combined with the roll system reform of the annealing line and the improvement of the deviation correction ability.

Furnace pressure is an important control index of annealing furnace. Furnace pressure fluctuation will have a significant impact on the quality and performance of products. The pressure control of the existing continuous annealing furnace generally adopted a conventional PID control method, which caused the traditional continuous annealing furnace pressure could not take into account the requirements of stability and rapidity at the same time. A new control method of furnace pressure control model was adopted, which took the set value and actual value of furnace temperature, burner power, gas and air flow in the furnace area as the input, and used the multivariable predictive control algorithm to calculate the current optimal exhaust fan speed, so as to realize the control of furnace pressure stably and improve the control accurately.

According to the application requirements of high-performance grain-oriented (GO) silicon steel for electical equipments such as power frequency energy saving transformer, medium frequency isolation transformer , and low frequency transformer, the electromagnetic characteristics of 0.10-0.27 mm GO steel under different working frequencies were studied by an arbitrary waveform magnetic field excitation measurement system. Compared with 0.10 mm ultrathin GO steel, 0.18 mm high magnetic induction GO steel has lower core loss in the frequency range of 15-400 Hz. The core loss of 0.18 mm sample is not only lower than that of 0.23 mm and 0.27 mm products in the rolling direction (RD), but also has the advantage of minimum loss in the transverse direction (TD). However, for materials with the same thickness, low loss in RD does not mean low loss in TD. The differences of electromagnetic characteristics of silicon steel with different thickness were analyzed, and the results can support the core materials selection of different types of transformer. Finally, the future development trend of thin-gauge GO steel was prospected in terms of the performance requirements of core materials for power frequency, medium frequency and low frequency electical equipments.

In response to the increasingly stringent torque density and efficiency of high-performance motors, the performance of traditional soft magnetic materials has been brought to the extreme. The exploration and application of new soft magnetic materials is an important way to improve the performance of motors. Therefore, oriented electrical steels with high magnetic induction and low iron loss along the rolling direction were proposed to the design of the stator teeth of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), which was also compared with the traditional non-oriented electrical steel motor. The results showed that compared with the traditional material motor, the torque of the new motor topology can be increased by 3.4 %, the iron loss can be reduced by 18 %, and the overall efficiency of the motor has been improved. It lays a foundation for the application of oriented electrical steel soft magnetic materials in high performance motors.

Using the existing grain-oriented silicon steel hot-rolled sheet as the initial material, the effects of different normalization processes on the microstructure of the grain-oriented silicon steel normalized sheet were comparatively studied by metallographic microscopy. The results showed that the original strip structure of oriented silicon steel was obviously reduced after regularization, and the grains were obviously enlarged and coarsened, especially the grain size of ferrite in the surface layer reached 34 μm, and the normalized plate structure of oriented silicon steel was beneficial to improve subsequent cold rolling and decarburization processes.
